On Feb 25, Acting Consul General FAN Xiaodong attended the Lunar New Year Reception held by Mayor of Vancouver Gregor Robertson. About 200 guests, including city councilors, representatives of Chinese communities and journalists attended the reception.

Acting Consul General FAN wished everyone a happy Lunar New Year. He said, the year of 2014 witnessed historic development in terms of China-Canada bilateral relationship. In the year of 2015, both the two countries, and the city of Guangzhou and the city of Vancouver will jointly host a series of celebration, which are expected to usher the bilateral relations in a new stage.

Mayor Gregor Robertson sent his warm greetings to Chinese people and the local Chinese communities for the Lunar New Year in both Mandarin and Cantonese. He congratulated the success of the 42nd Vancouver Chinese New Year Parade, which has been a joint celebration by Chinese communities and local residents as well. He also expressed the will to further strengthen the economic and trade relations and people to people exchanges with the city of Guangzhou.
