Acting Consul General FAN Xiaodong Attended Vancouver Chinese New Year Parade

On February 22, Mr. FAN Xiaodong, Acting Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver, attended the Chinese Lunar New Year Parade held at the Chinatown in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC).

Jason Kenny, Minister for Multiculturalism and Minister of National Defense, James Moore, Minister of Industry, Alice Wong, Minister of State for Senior Affairs, MP Wai Young, MP Don Davies from the Canadian Federal Government, the Lieutenant Governor of BC Judith Guichon, BC Premier Christy Clark, Ministers Teresa Wat, Suzanne Anton, Amrik Virk, Andrew Wikinson joined the Parade. BC NDP leader John Hogan, MLAs Richard Lee, Doug Bing, Jenny Kwan, Jane Shin, Vancouver Acting Mayor Raymond Louie,Deputy Mayor Andrea Reimer, City Councilor Adriane Carr, Kerry Jang, Burnaby City Councilor James Wang were also present.

The parade has a history of more than 40 years and has become an occasion for the overseas Chinese community to celebrate the traditional Chinese Spring Festival, and share the joy and happiness with local residents and visitors. This year, more than 70 teams composed of 5000 people participated in the Parade. About 100,000 people were attracted along the roadside.

On the evening of Feb. 22, while attending the dinner hosted by the Parade organizing committee, Mr. FAN Xiaodong extended his season's greetings and sincere wishes to the local Chinese community in the Greater Vancouver for a bright and happy new year of 2015.
