H.E. Consul General LIU Fei Attended CCBC Luncheon

On Feb. 15, H.E. LIU Fei, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver, attended the luncheon hosted by Canada China Business Council(CCBC) welcoming Hon. John McCallum, Canada's Ambassador Designate to China.

In her address to about 150 participants, CG LIU highlighted the speeches by Chinese President XI Jinping in Davos and Geneva and his propositions on the building of a community of shared future for mankind and for the benefit of the entire world. She also briefed on China's Belt and Road Initiative and pointed out that British Columbia was Canada's first local province to sign an MOU on enhancing maritime and economic connectivity, building on the Belt and Road Initiative with China's Guangdong Province. This year when Canada was celebrating its 150th anniversary, we were also celebrating the long term friendship between Chinese and Canadian people, because the Chinese migrants arrived Canada earlier than the establishment of Canada and made contributions to the country's development. She wished Ambassador Designate John McCallum's work in China productive and looked forward to working with him to further promote bilateral relations.

Ambassador McCallum also delivered a speech, emphasizing that despite differences between the two countries,Canada and China have much in common in terms of economic growth, job creation, and people's livelihood like education, health care, etc. He committed himself to strengthening bilateral ties and expected to see quick progress on FTA talks as well as greater achievements in broad cooperation between China and Canada.
