On October 16, Consul General Fu Fengshan attended and delivered remarks at a send-off reception hosted by the Canada International Trade Promotion Society (CITPS) for participants in the China International Import Expo (CIIE). More than 100 representatives of Western Canadian companies participating in the 9th CIIE and members of the political and business communities from across the consular district attended the event.

Consul General Fu noted that, after eight years of development, the CIIE has become a premier platform for businesses around the world to explore the Chinese market and expand cooperation with China. In the face of unilateralism and protectionism, the CIIE sends a clear message that China’s door to opening up will only open wider and that China stands ready to work with countries around the world to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
He called on China and Canada to make full use of platforms such as the CIIE to advance together and achieve mutual success. Noting the strong complementarity between the two economies and the tremendous potential for cooperation, he expressed confidence that, under the strategic guidance of both countries’ leaders, the China-Canada New Strategic Partnership would continue to grow steadily, ushering in a new chapter in bilateral friendship and practical cooperation. He encouraged participating companies to seize the opportunity to continue serving as bridges between the two countries, share stories of practical cooperation, and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
