On September 23, the Consulate General of China in Vancouver hosted a Farewell Reception for British Columbia (BC) companies participating in the 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE). Consul General Fu Fengshan attended the event and delivered remarks. Consul Liang Yanmin, along with representatives of participating companies and organizing agencies from the consular district, also attended.

Consul General Fu said that the CIIE is a major decision by China to advance high-standard opening-up and a concrete step in its firm commitment to free trade and its efforts to safeguard the multilateral trading system. The CIIE provides companies from Canada and other countries with greater opportunities to share in the vast Chinese market.
Consul General Fu noted that China-Canada relations are now at a new starting point. With highly complementary resource endowments and industrial structures, China and Canada have broad prospects for cooperation. He encouraged BC companies to make full use of the CIIE platform and turn their participation into sustained cooperation.
Participants engaged actively in discussions and heard experience-sharing presentations from representatives of companies that have previously participated in the CIIE. Chinese financial institutions and airlines also introduced measures to provide services and support for companies traveling to Shanghai for the expo.
