On September 17, Consul General Fu Fengshan attended a reception hosted by the Canada China Business Council (CCBC) and delivered a keynote speech on China’s economic development and China-Canada economic and trade cooperation.

Consul General Fu outlined China’s economic performance and achievements in international cooperation at the start of the 15th Five-Year Plan period. He noted that China-Canada relations are entering a new stage of development, with new opportunities emerging for economic and trade cooperation. China’s economy is undergoing continued transformation and upgrading, while Canada is advancing trade diversification. The two countries have highly complementary industrial strengths and market needs, offering broad prospects for cooperation.
Consul General Fu highlighted British Columbia’s role as an important gateway to the Asia-Pacific, noting its strengths in energy, minerals, agriculture and forestry, green development and modern services. He expressed the hope that business communities in both countries would seize the opportunities, deepen exchanges and advance more practical outcomes in economic and trade cooperation, guided by the China-Canada Economic and Trade Cooperation Roadmap.
Counsellor Liang Yanmin and more than 70 representatives from the local business community attended the event. Consul General Fu also interacted with guests, including David Fung, Vice Chair of CCBC, and Martin Thibodeau, Regional President for British Columbia at RBC.
