On September 13, Consul General Fu Fengshan was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the 2026 Vancouver “China Film Week” and the “Chinese Films on Canadian Campuses” and delivered a speech. Distinguished guests attended the event, including representatives from the local governments, figures from the film industry, young students, and representatives of overseas Chinese organizations.

Consul General Fu stated that “China Film Week” serves as a medium of light and shadow to promote mutual learning among civilizations. Through eight meticulously selected cinematic masterpieces, the event offers a comprehensive, multi-dimensional, and authentic portrayal of China. Noting that this year marks the 160th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birth, the program features special sections dedicated to historical retrospectives and the “Chinese Films on Canadian Campuses”, designed to pay tribute to the great revolutionary leader and enrich the minds of the youth. Consul General Fu expressed the aspiration that this film week will serve as an opportunity to deepen pragmatic cooperation between China and Canada in the fields of film and cultural exchanges, enhance people-to-people bonds, and inject continuous momentum into the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations.
The opening ceremony was held at the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts at Simon Fraser University. The featured films will be screened from September 14 to 18 at the Center and Vancouver International Film Festival Centre.
