On September 29, the Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver together with other representatives from Chinese community held an event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and commemorate the 54th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada. Chinese Acting Consul General Zeng Zhi and around 500 guests attended the event.

In his speech, Acting Consul General Zeng said that in the past 75 years, China has risen from poverty and weakness to prosperity and strength, and has embarked on a Chinese path to modernization. The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China drew up a new blueprint for further comprehensively deepening reforms and promoting high-quality development. British Columbia has close ties with China in various fields and has huge potential for cooperation. We hope that China-Canada relations could improve and move forward in a healthy and stable manner. Zeng thanked the Chinese community in the consular district for their concern and support for China's development, and hoped they could continue to play a role as a bridge and link to enhance exchanges, cooperation and people-to-people friendship between China and Canada.

Ms. Helen Qian, president of the Chinese Benevolent Association of Vancouver, on behalf of the organizer, wished China and Canada prosperity and everlasting friendship between the peoples.
