Renowned Chinese drama "Thunderstorm" debuted in Victoria, BC, on February 18, captivating nearly 700 attendees. Consul General Yang Shu, provincial government officials and Victoria's Mayor, joined the audience for this highlight of the Victoria Chinese community's Spring Festival celebrations. The Canadian Community Service Association and Chinese Freemasons Dart Coon Club co-organized the event, featuring the Vancouver Mandarin Drama Society.

To ensure non-Chinese speakers could follow the play, organizers offered bilingual programs and live English subtitles. Audience members not familiar with Chinese praised the clarity and emotional impact of the story.

Consul General Yang lauded the organizers for introducing this remarkable example of modern Chinese drama to Canadian audiences. He encouraged Chinese cultural groups to extend their reach beyond the Greater Vancouver, fostering a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture for people of all ethnicities.
