On April 29, the Chinese Consulate General in Vancouver, the China International Import Expo Bureau, and Bank of China (Canada) jointly hosted the 8th China International Import Expo(CIIE) Promotion Conference in Vancouver. Consul General Yang Shu attended and delivered a speech.
Consul General Yang emphasized that China’s economy has maintained good momentum with steady growth, and China is committed to acting as an important engine for the world economy, contributing around 30% to global economy growth. The CIIE is a key Chinese initiative for advancing high-standard opening up, providing a rare opportunity for all countries, including Canada. Consul General Yang pointed out that the US is engaging in unilateralism with its ‘America First’, waging a tariff war, placing its own interests above those of the international community, which severely hurts the interests of the rest of the world. Compromise and flinching will only invite more bullying. China is ready to work with the international community to safeguard the multilateral trading system and its core values and fundamental principles, and to promote trade liberalisation and facilitation.
Over 200 local business representatives attended the promotion conference.
