On January 25, the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Vancouver held an event for Chinese students in the consular district titled "Celebrating  the Spring Festival with the Motherland". Consul General Yang Shu attended the event, accompanied by Counselor Consul Dong Zhixue.

Consul General Yang Shu extended New Year greetings and good wishes to international students in the consular district, saying that overseas students are the precious wealth of the Party and the People, and an important force in achieving high-quality development and promoting Chinese-style modernization. The motherland and the Consulate General have always been concerned about the health and safety, learning and growth of Chinese students, and will escort everyone to study abroad safely and successfully. I hope that students will shoulder the responsibilities and missions of overseas youth in the new era and contribute their own strength to the construction and development of the motherland and the friendship between the peoples of China and Canada.

During the period, the Consulate General held a symposium on returning to China for entrepreneurship and development, and distributed the Year of the Snake mascot and New Year gift packages. Nearly 50 Chinese student and scholar representatives from colleges and universities in the consular district participated in the event. The participating students made dumplings, guessed lantern riddles, watched the global international students' online Spring Festival Gala, and welcomed the Year of the Snake together.
