On September 12, The Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver held a reception celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Consulate General. Consul General Yang Shu, together with over 430 guests, including the representative of the British Columbia (BC) government, Minister of Forests Honourable Bruce Ralston, Senator Yuen Pau Woo, MP Don Davies, and representatives from consular crops, Chinese communities, Chinese enterprises and students, attended the celebratory event.
Consul General Yang extended gratitude for friends from all walks of life in BC and Yukon for their support for China's development, elaborated on the essence of Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and introduced China's achievements in deepening reform comprehensively and advancing Chinese modernization. Recalling the 50-year history of the Consulate General, Mr. Yang expressed his willingness to work with people from all walks of life in BC and Yukon to improve and advance bilateral relations on a healthy and stable track.
The reception featured a photo exhibition and a painting exhibition, reviewing important events experienced by the Consulate General. Guests thanked the Consulate General for the invitation, warmly congratulated China's National Day and expressed the wish for their prosperity of China and Canada.
