On September 10, on the occasion of Chinese Teachers' Day, Consul General Yang Shu visited Professor Jan Walls , a famous educator and sinologist, and thanked him for decades of engagement in Chinese language education and outstanding contributions to cultural exchanges between China and Canada.

Consul General Yang introduced China's current development and achievements and said China will steadfastly follow the path of reform and opening up and promote Chinese-style modernization. Consul General Yang wished Professor Walls good health and welcome him to visit China to meet old friends and witness new changes. Professor Walls sincerely thanked for the invitation and hoped to visit China to experience the changes of the times.

Professor Walls is an honorary professor at the University of British Columbia, the University of Victoria, and Simon Fraser University in Canada. In his early career, he served as a diplomat in charge of culture and education at the Canadian Embassy in China.
