On August 23rd, Consul General Yang Shu visited Yukon University and met with Dr. Shelagh Rowles, Provost and Vice president of Yukon University.
Consul General Yang thoroughly learned about the history and current operations of Yukon University, noting that as the only university located north of 60 degrees north latitude in Canada, Yukon University has a unique advantage in research related to high-latitude geography, biology, and climate. He said that China is promoting Chinese modernization through comprehensively deepening reform across the board and continuously expanding high-level opening in all areas, including education, and looked forward to Yukon University actively exploring cooperation with Chinese universities to jointly promote people-to-people exchanges and mutual learning between China and Canada.
Dr. Rowles welcomed Consul General Yang's visit, saying that Yukon University, which was established in 2020 upgrading from Yukon College, attaches great importance to expanding international educational cooperation and is willing to maintain close communication with the Chinese Consulate General to jointly explore establishing collaborative exchanges with Chinese higher education institutions.
